| Workstation Assessments
|
|
Why have
a WSA?
When you sit comfortably, with
correct posture you will be more productive and
proactive.
You will, of course, be less prone to
work-related injuries and absenteeism.
Employers have a duty under
Health & Safety Law to assess all employees,
including agency workers, self employed and
volunteers before they start the job.
Existing staff need one too if it hasn't already
been done.
Why us
and not your Health & Safety
Officer?
Physiotherapists trained
in ergonomics are exceptionally well suited to
help you sit well. We have extensive
knowledge of the biomechanics and the strain that
poor posture, overuse etc places on the
body.

| Shocking Facts
............. |
Musculoskeletal
disorders account for 49 per cent of sickness
absence from work, a higher proportion than any
other condition, and cost the UK economy £7
billion each year (Governments Fit for Work pilot
scheme). Dame Carol Black stated a
year and a half ago when reporting on the health
of the working age population, that the cost of
sickness absence to the economy as a whole -
including cost to the NHS and to industry as well
as the taxpayers through the benefit system - was
a whopping £100 billion a year. RSI
Action chairman, Stephen Fischer, says the absence
of any risk assessment (workstation assessment) in
his work as a Principal Engineer in the US
aerospace industry resulted in chronic diffuse RSI
(repetitive strain injury) and medical retirement
at the age of 52. Read more about RSI
on the newly revamped HSE information site on
Musculoskeletal disorders.
Click here to visit the site and
click on upper limb disorders: www.hse.gov.uk/msd/index.htm
The TUC RSI site is also full of
information: http://www.tuc.org.uk/h_and_s/index.cfm?mins=397 Don't join the
statistics - we can help DSE
(display screen equipment = computer) users with a
workstation assessment and have the special skills
to treat you should you have already developed a
problem.

We were very sorry to
bid Caty a fond farewell at the end of
